Almost 11.5 million trips: Tarlan Astana continues to develop in Astana
Since the launch of the Tarlan Astana light rail transport, residents and guests of the capital have made almost 11.5 million trips.
Construction of the second phase of the LRT network is also underway across Astana. The new routes will serve additional districts and improve the city’s transport accessibility.
Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek provided an update on the development of the city’s transport system. According to him, light rail is becoming an increasingly popular way to travel around the city and is gradually becoming part of residents’ everyday lives.
The second phase of the Tarlan Astana project is currently being implemented along three routes: towards the city of Kosshy, the Zhegalau residential area, and Astana-1 railway station.
Construction towards Kosshy is progressing actively. A total of 294 support pillars have been installed, representing 97% of the planned number, while 385 elevated structures have been assembled (73%). Three stations are planned along this section. The main concrete works at these stations are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
Eight stations are planned along the route towards the Zhegalau residential area. Geological surveys have been completed, and preparatory work is now underway, including the relocation of utility networks and the preparation of construction sites.
The route towards Astana-1 railway station will include nine stations, including an interchange hub. Work continues on erecting support pillars and preparing foundations for future structures.
The development of Tarlan Astana is aimed at creating a unified, modern transport network for the capital. Expanding the routes will improve access to public transport, strengthen connectivity between districts, and provide residents with more convenient travel options.
The implementation of the second phase of the LRT project will mark the next stage in the development of Astana’s urban transport infrastructure.
